A collaboration between Bloom | The Art Project and Tillie's Tea Rooms to create an uplifting mural where customers enjoy catching up with each other over a cup of tea.
Bloom | The Art Project was invited to create a mural for Tillie's Tea Rooms, Ballinagh, Co. Cavan. Potential designs and ideas were initially discussed with the owner of the café. We were delighted to hear her ideas and come up with a project that would intertwine them with our own brand. It was soon decided that the theme of the mural would be 'Alice in Wonderland', as this was a personal favourite of the owner's. This theme was consistent with the little remnants and decorations dotted throughout the café.
Including a little message within our murals that makes the onlooker stop, read, and smile is an important element to the work created by Bloom | The Art Project. The quote from Alice in Wonderland, "You are entirely bonkers.. but all the best people are", was very fitting to the theme of the mural and our vision to promote positive mental health and wellbeing. An important little reminder to embrace our weirdness, as we are all perfectly imperfect.
From start to finish, the collaboration with Tillie's Tea Rooms was one filled with lots of fun and laughter. However, it was not without its challenges, from cleaning walls, to watching paint dry.. and RUN (to their horror). Everything came together in the end, with a beautiful design and a happy café owner. We hope whoever passes this mural gets a little spark of joy, a flash of a smile and the comfort of knowing - that it's okay to be a little bonkers!
